Nail Art Supplies
The most important supplies that you would require are different colors and shades of nail polish, both dark and light. Choose good quality, long-lasting and chip resistant nail polishes to obtain the best possible results for your nail art. Also remember to buy both, matte as well as glitter, nail polishes. Another very important supply that you will need is the clear or transparent top coat. Buy one that is not too thick, but is of the right consistency required for sealing purposes. Other supplies that you will need include toothpicks, acrylic paints, rhinestones (all colors), paint brushes with fine tips and nail glue.
Procedure
To begin with, you can try making a vertical stripe nail design with rhinestones. Practice drawing straight vertical slashes with paint on a piece of paper. Once you get a hang of it, place an acrylic nail on a steady surface, apply a base coat (any color) to the nail and allow it to dry well. After it has dried, choose a nail color that goes with the base coat. You can try a light and dark combination, like dark purple and lavender. Now, beginning from the left corner of the lower half of your nail, draw a straight, thin, vertical line diagonally towards the center. The, draw another such line from the center to the top. The nail now has three equal sections. If the line is not that straight or thins out somewhere, fill it in with another stroke of the nail polish. Allow this to dry thoroughly and if required, use a blow dryer to dry it. Once it has dried, pick rhinestones of a color that compliments both the nail colors that you have used for the nail design. Apply a coat of the clear top coat to the nail, dip the end of a toothpick in the top coat and pick a rhinestone with the toothpick. Then place the rhinestone in the area between the top strokes that you drew. Place three rhinestones along the length of the strokes and apply a coat of the top coat to secure the rhinestones firmly onto the nail. Allow this to dry thoroughly and your nail art design is ready!
Tips
Try out other simple nail designs like a red French manicure, ladybug, flowers, stars, polka dots, yin and yang, etc. Practice these nail designs well and then move on to trying nail designs with intricate patterns and usage of more colors. Remember, the design should not look too cluttered or messy. It should appear neat and should dry well for it to look pretty on your nails. Be careful of the combination of colors and rhinestones you choose for your nail design. Make sure that you use the right tools for intricate designs and you practice them on paper before making them on your nails.
