How to Make Designs on Your Nails

To begin with, you can try making a vertical stripe nail design with rhinestones. Practice drawing straight vertical slashes with paint on a piece of paper. Once you get a hang of it, place an acrylic nail on a steady surface, apply a base coat (any color) to the nail and allow it to dry well. After it has dried, choose a nail color that goes with the base coat. You can try a light and dark combination, like dark purple and lavender. Now, beginning from the left corner of the lower half of your nail, draw a straight, thin, vertical line diagonally towards the center. The, draw another such line from the center to the top. The nail now has three equal sections. If the line is not that straight or thins out somewhere, fill it in with another stroke of the nail polish. Allow this to dry thoroughly and if required, use a blow dryer to dry it. Once it has dried, pick rhinestones of a color that compliments both the nail colors that you have used for the nail design. Apply a coat of the clear top coat to the nail, dip the end of a toothpick in the top coat and pick a rhinestone with the toothpick. Then place the rhinestone in the area between the top strokes that you drew. Place three rhinestones along the length of the strokes and apply a coat of the top coat to secure the rhinestones firmly onto the nail.
