How to Make Apple Pie Crust
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 6 tablespoons butter
- 6 tablespoons shortening
- 6 to 8 tablespoons ice water
In a large bowl, mix the flour, salt and sugar. Heat a little butter in a microwave, add the melted butter and water to the flour and knead the dough. Once the large dough ball is formed, separate it into two parts and wrap it up with plastic wraps. Place the dough balls in a refrigerator for thirty minutes.
Once the dough has been refrigerated, sprinkle some flour on the counter top. Roll the dough out into a circular shape about a couple of inches larger in diameter than the pie pan. Wrap the rolled out dough by wrapping it around the rolling pin and then slowly unrolling it on the pan. Press it to the sides of the pan and cut off the overhanging edges. Place the crust in the refrigerator.
Making Apple Pie Filling
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup of white sugar
- 1/2 cup of brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
- 4 tablespoons of flour
- 1 tsp cinnamon powder
- 8-9 medium-sized apples
Before making the yummy apple pie filling, you first need to know how to make the spice. Combine 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, 1/2 teaspoons ground nutmeg and 1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom for your all spices mix. For the filling, peel and slice the apples into half inch cubes. In a large bowl add the apples, white and brown sugars, salt, flour and lemon juice. Add the all apple pie spices and mix the filling mixture thoroughly. Place it in the refrigerator. Now roll out the other ball of dough and gently fold it into half. For a lattice top pie crust, cut this rolled out dough into one inch strips.
Now remove the shell from the refrigerator and add the apple filling to it. Now use a beaten egg to brush up the edges of the pie. Layer on the dough strips in a crisscross pattern over the apple pie and cut off the excess dough. For browning the crust, add some milk atop the strips with a brush. Bake in a preheated microwave at around 425 degree Fahrenheit for around fifteen minutes. Now remove from the oven and cover with a foil. Bake at 375 degree Fahrenheit for 45 minutes or until the pie gets the lovely golden brown color.
Before serving the pie, allow the pie to cool for around an hour at room temperature. You can serve the delicious pie with a huge scoop of ice cream.

Ingredients
- 1 gallon of apple cider
- 1/2 gallon of apple juice
- 5 cinnamon sticks
- 2 cups of sugar
- 1 shot of Malibu rum
Heat and boil together apple cider, gallon of apple juice and cinnamon sticks and add 2 cups of sugar and stir until dissolved. Take it off heat and allow the drink to cool. Remove the cinnamon sticks and add the grain alcohol and ice to it. Mix one shot of rum, apple juice and toss in some cinnamon in a shaker.
