An ice cream is something children and the adults relish very much. Imagine your favorite cake topped along with your favorite ice cream. The idea sounds yummy. There are many confectioneries that loot people with an expensive price tag for ice cream cake. Recently, I had been to my friend’s daughter’s birthday party. It was there I tasted the ice cream cake for the first time. It was awesome, heaven on your plate. Later on, I got the recipe from an old friend of mine.

If you know how to bake a cake, then making ice cream cakes are very simple and fun. You can apply your ideas and flavors to this wonderful cake recipe. You could either use one flavor of ice cream or a combination of flavors. However, it is better not to use any kind of fruits in the ice cream cake because the fruits become frozen when you freeze the ice cream cake. We look at a basic recipe for the ice cream cake.

Ice Cream Cake – Recipe

Here is a simple recipe to mash up an ice cream cake. You could use any flavor of the ice cream or cake you prefer. One of the flavors that is an instant hit with both children and adults is chocolate cake with chocolate chip ice cream

Ingredients

Chocolate cake mix - 2 packets
Round cake pans - 3
Whipping cream - 1 pint
Sugar - 4 tbsp
Vanilla essence - 1 tbsp
Wax paper
Ice cream - flavor of your choice or chocolate chip ice cream

Method

Once you have decided on the ice cream flavor get a family pack of the same. Next step is to thaw the ice cream a bit. Hence, leave it outside the freezer for sometime.

In the mean time, create a mold for the ice cream by lining a round cake pan with wax paper. Once the ice cream becomes soft, fill the molds with the ice cream. Cover the mold with food grade plastic paper and place it in the freezer for few hours.

Two cakes should be prepared. If you are using the ready-made cake mix, follow the instructions given on it. Else you can use your ingredients to make the cake of your choice. If you are trying for the first time, sponge cake is the best. Cool the cake.

In a blender, blend the whipping cream, sugar and vanilla essence to make the whipped cream. It has to be soft and fluffy. Transfer it to a dry container and put in the chilling compartment of the fridge for half an hour.

The final step is to assemble the ice cream cake. On a round platter place one of the cakes. You can spread the ice cream over it. Make sure to spread it on the sides of the cake also. Now place the last piece of cake on the put of the ice cream. The last step is to ice the cake with the chilled whipped cream. Spread the whipped cream evenly on the cake.

You can decorate the cake with cherries, dry nuts, mint leaves or chocolate slices. Decoration depends on your imagination.

The ice cream cake is refrigerated till the time it is served.
