You can make use of anything like glass vases, plastic cans, strings, beads, buttons, old candle holders and pretty stones. Lantern Candle Holder

They are hanging ones and can be made from tin cans. Start with drawing some shapes, like stars, floral patterns, crosses and spirals., on the can. The next step is to fill the can with water and to keep it in the freezer. Keep it overnight, so that the water is frozen solid. Now, keep a folded towel on an even surface and place the tin can on its side. Take a nail and a hammer and start making holes along the outlines of the designs you have made on the tin can. As the can is filled with ice, you can make clean holes. You have to work around the can, so that the designs made on the can are outlined with holes. As you are making a lantern candle holder, you have to make two holes on opposite sides near its rim. Now, insert copper wires through these holes, so as to hang it. Once the ice melts and the can is dry, you may paint the can or leave it like that for a more rustic look.

Beaded Candle Holder

For this purpose, you can use a glass vase or a plastic cup or even an old candle holder. Apart from that, you need small beads, jewelry glue and beading thread. You may use single-colored or multicolored beads to string the beading thread. Once, you are done with that, apply glue on the outer surface of the cup or vase. Now, stick the end of the beaded string to the bottom and wrap it around the vase/cup (along the length) till the rim is covered. While wrapping the vase with the beaded string, hold the wrapped parts tightly, so that it get adhered to the surface. You can use it, once the glue is completely dry. In this case, you can try beads of different colors, shapes and size.
