Tips to Make a Beaded Bracelet
Making beaded jewelry can be very easy, if you have a genuine interest in the task. All you need is to get a basic idea of the materials required and some creativity to make unique pieces of beaded jewelry. Among the whole lot of beaded jewelry, you can start with bracelets, which are comparatively easy to make. The following are some tips about how to make beaded bracelets.
- In order to make a beaded bracelet (a simple piece), you may need the following materials. They include beading threads, beads, bead tips, glue, jewelry clasps, flat-nose pliers, scissors, long and straight pins and a flat working surface, like a table top.
- Purchase the materials, as per your requirement. It is better to plan a design and then buy materials accordingly. Otherwise, take a look at the different types of beads and other materials available and then plan accordingly.
- Once the materials are ready, measure the size of your wrist and cut the required amount of beading thread. On an average, a beading thread with a length of seven inches is taken for making bracelets (add two to three inches for an ankle bracelet).
- Plan a design for your beaded bracelet and choose beads accordingly. You can use beads of various size, types, colors, shapes and designs for your bracelet.
- Once you are done with the design of your bracelet, you must select a clasp and two bead tips, which are best suited for your design. Bead tips secure the ends of the beading thread and the clasp is attached to the bead tips.
- Now place the beads on a flat surface and arrange as per the design. This makes the task of beading easier.
- The next step is to form a knot at one end of the thread. If there is any excess thread beyond the knot, cut it. Now, take a bead tip and insert the open end of the thread through the hole in the bead tip. The bead tip has to be positioned at the knotted end of the thread, so that the knot is secured inside the bead tip (against the hole).
- You can make the bead tip more secure by adding some craft glue on the knot and closing the bead tip over the knot with the help of a flat-nose pliers.
- Now it is time to string the beads, as per the design of your bracelet. Once you finish with this task, insert another bead tip with its close end facing the beads.
- You have to tie a knot, which has to be pushed into the bead clip, so that the knot rests inside the bead clip. Now, close the bead clip with glue and pliers and remove excess beading thread.
Now that you have a basic understanding about making a beaded bracelet, you can splurge your creativity and try to come up with some unique beaded jewelry.
