How to Lay Linoleum Flooring : Procedure

The first and foremost step is to check if the layment where you are going to place linoleum flooring is clean and free from dust, debris or any kind of dirt. Along with this, you will also have to make sure that the floor is free from nails and staples. If the layment is not clear and plain, then you can think of putting a plywood on it. This will create your base for linoleum flooring.

Now, you can begin with the actual process of laying linoleum flooring. Find out and mark the center of the room. If you have linoleum roll, then you can cut it down according to the size of the room. Before cutting, it is advised to know the actual and exact measurement of the room. To be on the safe side you can cut ½ inch extra linoleum. The next step is to unroll this linoleum flooring. If you come across any obstacles like pipes or vents while laying the roll it is better to remove them. After you have unrolled the linoleum and placed it on the floor, the next step is to unroll half of it and apply adhesive to it. After applying adhesive, gently lay it on the floor. Repeat the same process for the remaining part of linoleum flooring as well. After you have applied adhesive to the whole roll and after you have completely laid it, smoothen it and remove air bubbles if any. Start smoothening it from the center of the room. Use a floor roller to check if there are any air bubbles and see if the linoleum roll has stuck well. If you have opted for linoleum tiles, then the process is pretty much simple, as you do not have to roll and unroll. You will have to put adhesive to individual tiles and stick them. Start from the center of the room and then move outwards towards the walls. For marking the center of the room, choose one wall, measure the width of the wall and mark its center. Similarly find the center of the opposite wall and mark its center. Draw a line starting from the center of one wall and ending at the opposite center. Follow the same procedure for the remaining two walls. The point where the two lines meet is the center of the room.

This was all about how to lay linoleum flooring. The process of installing this flooring is simple and it also requires less amount of time.
