Studies have shown that lack of sleep makes a person mentally weak and forgetful, but people who get at least 7 hours of sleep every night, tend to remember the recent events quicker. One should sleep early and wake up early. A healthy lifestyle is the key to improved memory.

Through Self Motivation
If you are learning something that you are interested in, it is memorized quicker than the things that do not interest you. It is necessary to get involved in every activity you do. Being involved arouses interest and feeling interested in something motivates you to do it well. Self motivation will help, both adults and children, feel encouraged to perform better.

By Organizing Your Thoughts
You must have come across situations where you have to purchase groceries but you always forget at least one item from the list you have memorized. Make a list of the articles that you have to buy and take the list with you. This will help you remember what has to be purchased. When you wake up early in the morning, try to remember what you all you did on the previous day. This improves your thinking abilities and helps improve memory too. There are several memory games which test your memory capacity. Make a list of 20 names including birds, animals, places or anything on blank page. The list should be of 25 words only. Now read them once, and put this page away or give it to someone. Try to remember all the names in the order in which they were written. Practice solving puzzles and riddles, this help you improve your memory.

Through Exercise and Meditation
Meditation is a great way to improve your concentration. While meditating, we do not think about anything else but concentrate only on your breathing. This will help you calm down and work better. Everything that is done after meditation can be learned or performed in a better way. Another way of improving your memory is to do Yoga. Power Yoga also helps to stimulate our blood cells. It also makes us to feel fresh and energetic. Exercising in the morning helps in improving the memory power as the fresh, pollution free air reaches our blood cells, thereby improving blood circulation in the body and also to the brain.

By Proper Food Intake
There are some foods that help to improve memory. Including foods like turmeric, berries, fish, spinach, whole grains, almonds, eggs from herbivorous hens can help enhance memory. You can also have a cup of tea or coffee early in the morning. Dried pumpkin seeds also help improve memory. Including vegetables like broccoli, cabbage, leeks, onion, etc. in your daily diet reduces the risk of memory decline that happens with advancing age. Foods containing antioxidants such as seeds, nuts, red tomatoes, carrots, etc. help in improving the oxygen levels in the blood. Green tea is also a good antioxidant. Folic acid and vitamin B help to break down monocysteine which is an amino acid and is toxic to the nerve cells. So, it's advisable to include vitamin B and folic acid rich foods like soybeans, strawberries, legumes, melons, asparagus, and black beans in your diet. Include fish and flaxseed that contain omega 3 fatty acids. Consuming foods sweetened with honey also helps in the long run as honey is good for memory.
