Bypass Pruner.
- Now proceed with a process of growing ginger root. Go to the nearby grocery store and buy fresh ginger roots. Check that the ginger looks fresh, shiny, and clean.
- After bringing it home, though ginger looks clean, wash it once again thoroughly under the running water.
- Now, take a bowl and fill it with room temperature water and soak the cleaned ginger in it for one night.
- Next morning, take a pot in which you wish to plant the ginger. Make sure that pot is of the significant size. Around fourteen inch wide and deep pot is ideal for growing ginger.
- Start preparing the pot for planting. Add loose soil and compost to the pot. The compost should be at least twenty to thirty percent of the total potting soil. More than that is welcome.
- Take a water in the jar or mug and add it to the pot. Make sure you do not water the plant excessively. You need to just wet the soil properly.
- Now remove the soaked ginger roots from the bowl and place them just below the surface of the soil. Do not plant them too deep or too close to each other. Also make sure that the bud opening or an 'eye' of the ginger should face the sky.
- Once the pot is ready with ginger plantation, water it moderately again and place it in the light shade. The temperature should be around 75 to 85 F.
- You need to water the plant regularly but initially water the plant lightly and slowly, when the shoots appear on the soil surface prominently, you can water them frequently.
- Continue watering and composting regularly and within 10 to 12 months the plant will mature for you to remove the ginger root from below the soil surface.
- If you wish to grow more ginger in other plants then dig up the new sprouts around the main plant and replant them in other pots using the same procedure.
