How to Go Green in Your Apartment
Discusses products we can recycle and purchase that will lead a very "green" lifestyle today.
Going green is a new phenomena that many people are becoming a part of. As our world has continued to deteriorate there are those of us who want to play a larger role in preserving the environment. It definitely is important for all of us to partake in some sort of way to play a role in preserving our only planet.
There are all types of solutions and companies who may make it easier for all of us to "go green". There is one company in the UK called Greenbottle that has developed a new carton that is composed of a recyclable card board and an equally biodegradable inner lining that is composed of corn starch. This is just one solution. There are many more like it.
There are even apartment communities out there that provide free recycling services. I have heard there are some states that require this service if the apartment community contains a certain number of units. This is extremely helpful if you don’t want to drive down to the nearest recycling center.
If you want to partake in a recycling program you may want to contact your local Solid Waste Services department and see what types of services they provide and how you can play a larger role. You can recycle just about anything.
If you are like anyone else you probably have a lot of personal items laying around that you will never use. And if you have a smaller apartment you may want to get rid of as much junk as possible. There are a few tips you should be aware of that may help you dispose of those unwanted items.
Cell phones are something that everyone goes through and old phones are usually not disposed of properly. Cell phones contain materials like lead, bromide, mercury, and many other items that are not too friendly towards the environment. Don’t throw your cell phones in the wastebasket. Of course you can recycle of them properly. But if they work efficiently why not donate them to a good cause.
There are some foundations like the Wireless Foundation, and of course many cell phone retail stores will also offer a place for your old phones that you will not use anymore. There are many types of people that will value your phone and use it and be happy that they have one.
How many of you have computers that don’t really work anymore or are so slow you are fed up with them. Those old computers from the 90’s may seem really slow to you. There are many companies that you can donate your computer too. There are other companies that will use your computer towards the purchase of another one.
Whatever you do, these are just a few tips you can use. There are many more. So search the Internet and start going green.
