How to Get the Most Out of Holidays to Mexico
Holidays to Mexico are something quite special and are, for some people, once in a lifetime opportunities, so make sure you get the most out of your visit and choose the best resort for you.
While most of us work to live, in Mexico people live to work. That could just about sum Mexico up in one sentence but there is so much more to this energetic and vivacious nation than meets the eye.
Mexicans love their free time and socializing and family and friends remain their main priority in life. Children in Mexico are doted upon and the mother of every family is honored and respected. This respect gives you an idea of the kind of hospitable reception you will receive on holidays to Mexico, where you will be warmly invited to join in the social gatherings and a party is never far away.
If you visit the Pacific coast side of Mexico you may see spectacular grey whales and cute elephant seals that breed and reproduce in these waters year after year, while the Caribbean shoreline has a stunning underwater world of activity with coral reefs and colorful species of plant life and fish.
You could stay in Cancun on the Caribbean coastline, a resort full of first class hotels and full of exciting Mexican culture. Water sports are extremely good in these parts and snorkelling and scuba diving is available for all levels from beginners to experienced divers. Or you could always stay at the Nichupte Lagoon with its classy waterside restaurants, music bars and romantic scenery.
The beautiful little island of Cozumel, just off the coast at Playa del Carmen in the Caribbean Sea would best be described as having Mexican spirit with Caribbean soul, offering a relaxed atmosphere with just enough Mexican spice and the all important abundance of water sports. The center of the island is a tropical jungle with swampy lagoons full of tiny mammals and exotic birds, characteristic to this part of the world. The southern end of the island is a protected region and a nesting ground for marine turtles. Cozumel is an excellent choice for honeymooners as the sunsets are breathtaking and the pace of life is slightly more laid back here.
Over on the Pacific coast, Puerto Vallarta is a gastronomic delight and you'll find many of Mexico's top chef's here. Menus offer regional Mexican cuisine and varied international dishes, or you can enjoy traditional tacos from stalls scattered along the sea front. Puerta Vallarta is full of fun and there's always plenty to do, whether it’s the infamous water sports, golf, horse riding, biking, hiking, eco-tours or swimming with dolphins, then by night, get the party started as you dance the night away to the feisty latino beat.
The relatively new and much quieter tourist destination of Huatulco is slowly growing in popularity. Spread along the Pacific side of the country, this 20 mile stretch is split into small bays with Bahia Tangolunda, Bahia Chahue and Bahia de Santa Cruz among the most impressive areas. There are cosmopolitan marinas, trendy restaurants and even a beautiful ecological park called Rufino Tamayo in Huatulco.
Whatever you are looking for in your holidays to Mexico you are sure to be greeted with a very warm welcome and a wonderful mixture of relaxing beaches on which to spend lazy sunny days, and exciting evenings full of life, and color, where the tequila will flow freely and the night will dance to the infectious samba beat.
