Cellulite has become one of the common beauty concerns, especially among women. Even though, the existence of cellulite is still a much debated subject, it is said to affect most women, after a certain age. Cellulite is defined as the collection of fat deposits under the subcutaneous skin layers. It is said that such fat and fluids accumulate under the connective tissues that are found in the subcutaneous layers of the skin. This accumulated fat and fluids get harder with time, causing a dimpled effect on the skin. This hardened fat layer is called cellulite. The skin with cellulite is said to resemble orange peel and so the condition is also termed as orange peel syndrome. It is also contended that there is nothing called cellulite and the dimpled effect of the skin is caused by normal fat accumulation. However, it is found to be a common phenomenon among women and the members of the fair sex have always been looking for some tips to get rid of cellulite.

As mentioned above, women are more prone to develop cellulite, but, it can be found in some men too. It has been observed that cellulite is commonly found on locations like, thighs, buttocks, abdomen, breasts, etc. So, legs, especially, thighs are prone to develop this condition that can mar your looks. There is a common misconception that only obese women have cellulite. In fact, others too can develop this skin condition. In short, it is one of the common cosmetic concerns in women and most of them shy away from wearing bikinis or short dresses due to this skin condition.

Even though, there are various commercial products that claim to reduce cellulite, it is always better to go for some natural methods. In order to achieve cellulite removal from legs, adopt a multi pronged approach that includes diet changes, along with exercises. You may also use reliable products designed for cellulite reduction. Even liposuction is tried as an option for reducing this so-called fat layer beneath the skin. But, liposuction is also said to worsen this skin problem.

Diet Changes For Cellulite Reduction: Diet change is one of the effective methods of a cellulite reduction program. The first and foremost thing to do is to avoid fatty food. So, refrain from eating foods with high cholesterol, saturated fat, sugar, hydrogenated oil, etc. While crash dieting is not advisable, even large meals must be avoided. Go for four to five small meals throughout the day, rather than having three large meals. Some people have the habit of skipping breakfast, as a part of dieting, but, this is also not advisable. Include more fresh fruits and vegetables in the diet. Even lean proteins, grains, legumes, etc. will be beneficial. Drink lots of water, because lack of water makes the body store fat beneath the skin. It is also said that foods rich in vitamin C and bioflavonoids are also useful for reducing cellulite on legs.

Exercises to Get Rid of Cellulite on Legs: Along with diet changes, you have to adopt the right exercise program for reducing cellulite on the lower limbs. These exercises must be aimed at toning of the leg muscles. Walking, jogging and swimming are said to be very effective for reducing cellulite on thighs and other parts of the legs. Squats, lunges and leg extensions are also said to be useful for this purpose. Open air walking is one of the preferred thigh exercises for this skin condition. Another popular cellulite exercise can be done by standing straight, with your back flat against the wall. You have to slowly drop your upper body, so that the legs are bent at 90 degree angle with the wall. Don't use your hands for support and breathe normally. Retain the position for around a minute and repeat it a few times every day. You may also search for other leg exercises for cellulite reduction.

It may not be possible to get rid of cellulite with the help of any one of these methods. The best way is to adopt a combination of methods like diet control, exercises, use of cellulite reduction products, etc. Even dry skin brushing, regular scrubbing and massaging, etc., are said to be useful in controlling cellulite.
