Black Eye Treatment

The oldest way to get rid of a black eye is to apply something very cold to the affected area and to this day it is the best and the quickest way to heal it. If you have got a blow near your eye and you are afraid that it will turn into a black eye, the first thing that you need to do is apply anything that is cold to the affected area. You can use ice cubes in a plastic bag and hold it against your eyes. If you can't find ice cubes in your fridge, then head straight to the supermarket and buy stuff which is cold, like a can of soda, a bag of ice-covered peas, castor oil etc. To get rid of the pain, you can take a pain reliever, which contains acetaminophen and caffeine. Apart from helping in relieving the pain, it will also help in reducing the swelling of the area. After a day or two, when the pain subsides a bit, you can start using warm compression. This allows the circulation of blood in the affected area which can help in quick healing.

People with a black eye often face problems while sleeping. We advise you to sleep keeping your head raised on a couple of pillows. Try to get as much sleep as you can as it will help in the healing process. You can also massage the injured area gently so that any kind of soreness is taken care of. While sleeping, there may be an increased urge of scratching or rubbing the injury. Try your level best to resist this temptation as it can further aggravate the injury and may result in a sore eye. While going out, make sure that you are wearing protective eye-wear as the sun-rays can be harmful for the injury.

The above methods can work only if the damage is minimal. However, after two weeks if the symptoms do not subside and you still experience continuous pain, we will advise you to take the help of a doctor. He will conduct various tests to ascertain if there is a more serious damage to the area. These were some of the tips that can help you in getting rid of black eye at home.
