How to Get Over a Girl You Love

How to get over a person you loved? Is there any magic way to do so? Here is some help on the matter.
A breakup is always painful, and even more so if the relationship has been a particularly long one. Having loved a girl with all your heart, only to come to the painful realization that '...and they lived happily ever after' was in your case, not meant to be, can be quite excruciating. Well, if you can't get her back, what do you do? How do cope with life thereafter? How to get over a girl you had loved with all your heart, yet lost? Here are some helpful suggestions to get you through this difficult phase of life.

Delete. Forget. Format. Erase. Basically, get her out of your head and out of your memory. If you know that the relationship breakup is for good, then there is absolutely no point in spending hours on end crying over spilt milk. Sure, you will feel miserable in the first few hours following the breakup (or the day after), and in most cases, you will continue to feel that way for some time at least. But after a certain point, it is time to move on. There is no other way out.

Dispose
Dispose off all the stuff that you have that reminds you of her. It could be some of her possessions, things that she may have gifted you, letters, poems, photographs, anything. Pack all these things in a big carton and stow it away in the attic. On the contrary, if you were in a really meaningful long-term relationship, and she either dumped you or cheated on you, then I wouldn't exactly be averse to the idea of you throwing that 'carton of memories' in the garbage container, or shredding it to pieces, or for that matter, even torching it!

Distract
In spite of all your physical efforts of erasing your relationship memories by getting rid of the physical evidence (in the form of photos, letters, gifts, etc.) there will definitely be a lot of emotional baggage that needs to be taken care of. The best way to do so, is by distracting yourself from her and all your past relationship memories. Delving into the past and dreaming about 'what ifs', etc. is not going to help matters whatsoever. All of that is now part of your past. Getting stuck in memories will only cause you more hurt, and will make it all the more difficult to get over the girl.

Discover
This is probably one of the best ways to get over a girl. Discover yourself. It is time to reinvent yourself and move on in life. Engage yourself in some interesting activity. Take up your favorite hobby. Take a break from routine life and head out with a group of friends to some faraway travel destination. A new place, with new surroundings, and new people, can help in keeping your mind away from painful memories of the past. It can create a somewhat favorable environment for your heart to heal, and for you to emerge out of this phase as a stronger individual, with a renewed zest for life.

Well, these were a few of my suggestions regarding letting go of your ex girlfriend. Remember, there is no magical way. It is a natural process that requires its own time. Be patient. Take care!
