You will not get great legs without hard work. However, it is not difficult as well. It is important that you keep your legs active all the time. To do that, you need not hit the gym for strenuous workouts. Here are some simple steps for you to begin with. Choose to climb the stairs instead of using elevators. Walking small disatnces is also a good way to keep your legs active. Cycling around the town is a good idea to get great long legs. If you are a water baby, swimming can work wonders for you.
Exercises to Get Great Looking Legs
Here are some of the exercises which will help you in getting great legs. These exercises can be done in the confines of your home as well. All you will need to spare is 15 minutes of time for 3 sets of each exercise. Initially, start with one set and gradually increase it to 3 sets.
Squat: The squats workout the quads, hips and buttocks. In other words, they work on almost all the muscles below the waist. Take a chair. Stand about one feet away from the chair, with your back facing it. Keep shoulder level distance between both your legs, balance your weight evenly on both your legs. Bend your knees slightly before you squat. When you squat remember to check that your knees do not go beyond your toes. Squat to the chair seat height as though you are about to sit down. Hold the position for a couple of breaths, while coming up squeeze your buttocks and stand up straight. Do 10-12 repetitions of this exercise.
Inner Thigh Squat: As the name suggests, this is a very good exercise for your inner thighs. Stand straight with your legs spread at the distance of your shoulder width. Turn the toes in opposite directions i.e. the left toes should be facing the left and the right toes should be facing the right. Your hands should be at shoulder level. Slowly lower your torso, till your thighs are parallel to the ground. Hold the position for a couple of breaths. Come back to the standing position. Repeat this exercise 10-12 times.
Lunges: This exercise will tone your thighs. Stand with both legs next to one another. Move your left leg behind. Then bend your right knee and straighten your left leg and lower your body to the ground. The right thigh should be parallel to the floor. Do not touch your left knee to the ground. Keep your back straight and take care that the right knee does not go beyond the right toes. Now come up and repeat this exercise 12-15 times. Then change sides.
Calf Raises: With most of the exercises the calf does get exercised, however to make the calf look great, try the calf raises. Stand on a stair and let part of your heels hang in the air. Let your complete weight be on the balls of your feet. Now slowly lift up your weight on the balls of your feet. If you are not able to balance, take help of the wall. Hold for a couple of seconds and come down. Repeat this exercise 18-20 times.
Knee Ups: This is a very good exercise for your hip flexors, quads, thighs and pelvic muscle. Stand straight with your feet close to one another. Lift your left knee till your thigh is parallel to the ground and flex your feet. Bring your foot down and repeat 10-12 times and then change sides.
With all the exercises, it is also important that you keep a low fat diet. Choose a high fiber diet rich in proteins. Drinking 6-8 glasses of water will flush out the toxins from your body. Avoid wearing clothes which are tight on the hips, as this can lead to varicose veins. During winter, do not wear skirts as the cold will encourage storage of fat in the legs.
