Unfortunately there's a lot of conflicting information out there when the subject of How to Get Backlinks comes up. Another service I've seen some buzz around lately is someone selling a list of about 80 new social media sites per month that have a PR4 or higher.

I actually used this service for 3 months trying to rank for a very popular keyword. I put that keyword into SEO Elite using project one, the project that lets you view where your backlinks are coming from, how much PR they have, etc.. Not one of these sites showed up. Yes I did get a tad bit of trickle traffic, but hardly worth the $450.00 I had to pay to get this service.

Over the past few months, my business partner and myself have been testing a wide range of Social Media websites, paid PR inclusions and other sources so we could see what sticks and what doesn't. Then I like to submit them to top article directories like Ezine Articles, Buzzle, Go Articles, Idea Marketers, Expert Articles and Article Dashboard. I can generate an unlimited number of free backlinks to my websites this way as long as I'm willing to produce the content. It's always a lot easier to generate content in a niche you are passionate about.

Unique Article Wizard - Every time we run an article through the Unique Article Wizard, we end up getting 100-300 backlinks to our domain. You have to write 3 variations of the same article before you submit it to UAW. This is special software that goes a great job submitting to about 500 or so article directories and your article goes in the appropriate category.

Screencap Videos - Recently we've been creating 1-2 minute Screen Capture Videos on the niche markets we've been entering. These videos have been giving us some steady direct traffic. We're using a service called Traffic Geyser to submit them and Camtasia to record them. We use the Camtasia Callout feature to put our URL at the bottom of the video so viewers see it the entire time the video is running.

Press Releases - We got a ton of Google Alerts on our domain by submitting a Press Release at PR Web. I don't think there's a time where we've submitted a Press Release and it hasn't brought back some sales.

Yahoo Answers - Basically you have a friend write a question and then you answer it or vise versa. We haven't done this that much and are just starting to. I know it works real well for a friend of mine who launches a bunch of new niche sites each month.

Now I know I haven't even scratched the surface when it comes to How To Get Backlinks. But this definitely gives you a good place to start. Whatever you're trying to sell the main thing is to take some sort of action. If your in a local market, dominating it should be very easy still. It's only the most competitive markets where you'll have issues trying to rank on keywords.
