Frosted glass windows not only distribute light evenly, but also help in maintaining privacy. Go through this article if you want to give a frosted look to your glass windows.

Frosting Glass Windows
You Will Need
- Frosting spray
- Window cleaner with ammonia
- Razor knife
- Vinegar
- Soft cloth (lint-free)
- Paper
- Removable tape
- Take a sheet of plain paper large enough to cover the entire area of the window you want to frost. Stick the paper on the glass with the help of easily removable tape like masking tape and make sure there are no folds on the sheet.
- With the help of a pencil, sketch the design you want on the window. Sketch properly because this design is going to act like a stencil for you. If you are trying this out for the first time, it is better to stick to simple designs rather than complex ones because they would require extra time, patience and effort.
- Once you are done with the design, remove the paper from the window and place it on a table. Now carefully cut the design along its margin using a razor knife. Make sure you leave the outline as the cut design will be your stencil. Take sufficient care while using the razor knife so that you don't make a mistake while cutting the design.
- It's time to prepare your glass window for frosting. Clean the glass using vinegar to remove oily film, if any, from the glass. Oils prevent the glass from taking up frosting spray therefore, their removal becomes necessary. After getting rid of the oily film, it's time to clean the glass using a lint-free cloth and a glass cleaner containing ammonia. This cleaner helps to remove dirt flakes that can appear in the frost design and hamper the frosted look.
- You can experiment and use several colors for giving the frosted look to the glass windows. To begin frosting, place the paper stencil that you have prepared on the window. Stick the design firmly on the glass using removable tape along the perimeter of the design. Once the stencil is in place, you can start frosting the glass underneath using frosting spray.
- To get a thick frost, spray the glass window from a shorter distance, but if you want a light frost, the distance between the spray bottle and the window must be more. You can create designs of thick and light frost areas on the windows by altering the spraying distance. When using many colors for frosting, let one spray dry completely before using another color for spraying.
- When you finish frosting the entire window, leave it undisturbed to dry thoroughly. You can also switch on the fan of the room to facilitate drying. Leave the stencil undisturbed till the frosting spray has dried completely. When the window is dry, carefully remove the stencil by peeling adhesive tape and there you have your frosted glass window ready!
