On a slightly cloudy afternoon, I left for home a bit early from office. I had reached halfway through and the rain gods decided it was time to bless the earth with a passing shower. I hurriedly pulled it out of my jeans pocket. It was soaking wet and gave an impression as if it was breathing it last. 'No!' I screamed. My cell phone is my life and without my darling I will be lost. I had to provide it with an emergency treatment that will help save its life. Many insurance companies do not cover accidental water damage. Alas! Mine too, did not cover water damage. I was frantically thinking how to fix my phones and immediately struck with an idea. I called up a friend who knew a lot about mobile repair. Picking up a few cell phone water damage repair tips from him, I decided to incorporate them on my phone.

Fixing up the Phone
There are several ways of fixing water damaged phones. But, first, you need to turn off your cell phone immediately. If it is off, do not turn it on. You tried the blower remedy that did not work. So, you can use a vacuum cleaner to suck out the remaining moisture. So, to be on the safe side keep it wrapped in a soft towel or napkin in a warm, dry place like near a window sill. Again, do not place under direct sunlight.   • Take a zip lock pouch and add a handful of rice to it. Then place your cell phone into the bag of rice.   • You can take a cotton swab and dip it in alcohol. By alcohol I do not mean acetone. Never ever use acetone. This is because it has a corroding action that will damage your phone LCD screen. So, you dip the swab in alcohol and rub it along the phone. It will help get rid of any moisture due to spilled soda, sugary drinks, etc. You can power on your phone once the alcohol dries up.
  • You can even use desiccant bags or silica gel to dry off the moisture in your phone. All you need to do, instead of rice, place silica gel in the zip lock bag. Then place your phone in the bag and seal the pouch. Allow it to stay with silica gel overnight. The water will dry up from your phone, leaving it in a working condition.
