Many people have certain expectations that they have going in. However, after viewing several apartments and making a ton of calls, you may have to either raise your price to meet your expectations, or lower your expectations to meet your price range. Either way after touring enough properties you will figure out how far you can stretch your dollar out.

Other private apartment communities may have a community pool, but this is normally the extent of any amenities they may have. So it is up to you to decide what you want. The fewer the amenities and the older the property, the lower the possible cost.

Also the closer the apartment is located to a premier location like a downtown area, the more expensive it will be. So if you are looking for a cheaper apartment you will want to search the outskirts of the city you are interested in.

Remember that the longer the lease term, the cheaper you will be able to secure your apartment home for. If you can sign a 12 month lease you should pay less per month than if you sign a 6 month lease.

If you pre-pay in full many private apartments will even give you another incentive. This probably will be something you will have to negotiate though.
