How to Fall Asleep
With more and more people suffering from work related and other stress, lack of sleep is becoming a very common problem among people. Here are some tips to help you fall asleep fast...

Falling Asleep Easily
With all these night shift jobs, falling asleep doesn't come too easily for a lot of us. But by using one or more of the tips given below, you might be able to enjoy normal sleep like everyone else.
Exercise
Sleep is the body's reaction to being physically tired. So perhaps one of the reasons why you're not feeling sleepy is that you're not exhausted enough. Hence, in order to correct this problem, it is important that you get sufficient exercise. Exercise is anyway good for you and hence, if it gives you nice, long sleep at night, it is only an added advantage!
Eating Habits
Watch what you eat! A lot of people are unable to sleep at night as their digestive systems gives them a leg as they try to sleep. If you've eaten a bit too much or something which is a bit too spicy for your taste, the chances are that your stomach will grumble and keep you up the whole night. Excessive drinking and caffeine consumption also plays its part in ruining your sleep. So keep both these things in check as well.
Avoid Small Naps
A lot of people find that their small power naps really eat into the nights sleep. While power naps are a very effective way of rejuvenating some, others find their sleep cut short after taking a few power naps during the day. So if you feel that these small naps are the problem, clamp down on them altogether.
Cut all the Distractions
If you're working a night shift, then it becomes pretty tough to sleep in the day. You need to create an environment where you will be able to sleep better. Get some thick curtains for your windows which will block out the sunlight. Close all your doors and windows so that there is no noise around. Tell all the people coming in to either use a key or to come later and not disturb you. You can even get some earplugs if your partner snores a lot!
Meditation
It is widely accepted that meditation helps reduce stress and helps clear the mind of any lingering tensions. So meditation is one of the ways you can use, to reduce your stress and then perhaps you'll be able to sleep better. Hence meditation is one of the best ways to fall asleep.
Posture
Learn which position your most comfortable sleeping in. Pick your side of the bed as some people can be very picky about it. Don't count sheep, because it really doesn't work. Try deep breathing instead. Curl up in a position in which your body is comfortable and don't keep your body too tight. Relax your body. This will help you sleep a lot better.
Read a Book
But not a thriller, as it may keep you up all night. Reading a book helps a lot of people fall asleep. Why? It helps your mind unfocused from all the daily stresses and helps it relax. Choose a light book, which will interest you to some extent, but not so much where you find it unputdownable!
Music
Listening to light music may be your way of getting around the problem of falling asleep instantly. Listening to some slow, soft songs always puts me to sleep!
So these were some very good and effective ways of how to fall asleep. A good night's sleep is important to help the body rest and rejuvenate itself. So make sure you follow the above tips and sleep well!
