How To Entertain Your Active Toddler At Home
It is not easy to keep a toddler engaged. If you are having trouble with yours, these easy activities can help you. Not only will your toddler love them but will also learn a lot from them.
A great way to keep your toddler from mischief is to engage him in different productive activities. With a little imagination and love, you can create the most amazing games for your kids. This article lists some of the more unusual ones.
A great way to develop your toddler's imagination, while teaching him about body parts, is to create a life size portrait of his. Make him lie on a big chart paper and draw his outline. Ask him to color his different body parts on the paper. This will also be useful for you to chart his growth when you repeat the process next month.
If your toddler loves cars, use bedroom furniture to start a journey. Make pillows the car seats and bed the car. Give him a circular plate to turn into steering and take him to distant lands! You can show him animals, fishes, people, vehicles and anything else while on the journey.
Another great game for journeys is to give him pictures of things he is likely to see while in car or train. You can tell him about each picture and ask him to point out whenever he sees one of the items from the pictures outside. He will stay entertained throughout the ride and will also improve his observational power. Once he points at all the items in the picture, he gets a sticker or any other prize for winning.
On a day, your kid insists on going outside, you can take him to the garden or Local Park and ask him to collect everything he likes. He can carry a small box and fill it with interesting things like pebbles, leaves or other objects that fascinate him.
One of the most loved activities is playing with dough. You can get play dough from the market or create your own. Give your child a rolling pin plastic cutters and dough. You will be amazed at the type of shapes he creates using these and it will really help improve his imagination and motor skills. You may want to cover your expensive sofa sets and other easily stained furniture items as dough may stick to them and add to your work load.
On a day your toddler just wants to be on his feet, you can play the shadow game. You will also be able to enjoy the outdoors in this game and your child will learn more about nature. In this game you can play goofy and act as if you are chasing his shadow or that your shadow is chasing you. You can step on his shadow and ask him to find yours and step on it.
Chasing is another favorite activity of toddlers. They particularly like the hugs and kisses they get on being caught! So turn this game into a fun activity be turning into a lion or a big fish and see your toddler squeal with delight. Jump from not-so-high places like platform beds or other low level furniture to add drama to the chase.
