How to Do Coin Tricks
Magicians and illusionists have mesmerized people since time immemorial, and coin tricks are the simplest tricks to perform for a beginner. This article will give you some basics about how to perform elementary coin tricks.

It is fairly simple to learn coin tricks and anyone can pick them up with a little bit of practice and confidence. The key here is to appear calm and to distract the audience with constant banter. The objective of doing this is so take the audiences attention away from your hands, even though they feel that they are watching every single move of yours. Every person, who knows these tricks, must also have the ability to weave fancy stories and ramblings off the tip of their tongue, in order to carry out these tricks properly.
The Vanishing Coin
This is a coin trick that starts off with the 'illusionist' showing the audience 4 coins in the palm of his hand. He then proceeds to close his fist, and when he reopens it there are only 3 coins left.
The trick here is to make a fake coin beforehand, using aluminum foil. By placing a square shaped foil over a coin and pressing it extremely hard, it can be made to resemble a real coin. One must make sure that the square shaped foil is cut off very carefully though. Upon closing the fist the foil is crushed, and only 3 coins thus remain. With some practice you can get better at this trick, and you can also learn to make the fake aluminum coins better.
The Vanishing Coin - 2
This is another fairly simpler way to make a coin vanish. What you need to do is glue a coin onto the face of a card and then appear to drop the coin into your other hand by turning the coin over that hand. Put the card in your pocket and keep your fist closed, giving the impression that the coin is still in your hand. After a little bit of talking, you can open your hand and there will be no coin there. This is an amateur trick and it can be improved by improving the distracting talk of the magician.
Seeing With Your Fingers
This is another trick that is fairly easy to pull off, if it is done right, and can leave a spectator dumbfounded and astounded. Ask a spectator to pick a random coin from a bag of coins, and put some kind of mark on it with a marker. Now when the coin is replaced in the bag, you 'magically' retrieve that very coin.
The trick is to tell the spectator to press the coin in their hand. You can tell them that by doing so, they are making a mental impression of the coin in their mind and in yours, or any other similar sounding reason. When you are searching for the marked coin, you simply have to locate the coin that is warm. Sounds easy? It's not that easy, but with practice it can be. There are many ways to do coin tricks, and how you go about it, once you know the secret, depends on you entirely.
The Vanishing Coin - 3
Here's another way to give the illusion of a coin magically vanishing. What happens is that you place a coin on an open handkerchief in your hand, and then the coin is gone when you reopen the handkerchief.
The secret to this trick is that the hand, in which you hold the handkerchief has a rubber band tightly wound around your index finger and middle finger. Once you place the coin in the handkerchief you let it slide inside the space between the strands of the rubber band. Now, release the rubber band and let the coin stay there. Hold the handkerchief from that spot and show the audience that the coin has vanished. You can practice this trick in front of a mirror to perfect it, and to ensure that no one can see traces of the coin.
These were a few magic tricks with coins that are quite easy to perform. Once you have mastered these, you can start picking up some more coin tricks that are far more advanced in nature. Remember that all tricks are an illusion and require a gimmick of some sort, and there are necessary preparations that must be made beforehand.
