Dealing with Customers in Person
Dealing with customers in a right way is vital for both - new business person as well as the powerful and established ones. One should be very patient and calm. Suppose you are the owner of a shop or a restaurant, and a customer arrives at your premises. First of all, you should greet the customer by saying 'Good Morning', 'Good Afternoon', or 'Good Evening'. Then, ask how you can help him/her. Greeting and giving them attendance and importance is very essential, as it creates a good impression about you and your enterprise. Any customer would like it when there is someone who listens to them and clears their doubts when they go out shopping. You should be polite and attentive, and listen to their questions carefully. Show them all the varieties of the items which he wants, so that he can easily choose among them. Try and provide a good atmosphere for shopping, if you have a shop, so that the customer will give a serious thought of coming to your place the next time also.
Never compromise on the quality of the product, as everyone wants to buy items which are really good for the money which is being spent. Avoid deceiving customers in matters related to quality and pricing of the product as this can drive them away permanently or even force them to take a legal action against you. You should be very fair, when it comes to the pricing of your products by not over-charging or under-charging. See to it that, along with the customer satisfaction, you too earn a decent profit from the deal. Do not be arrogant or careless while dealing with customers.
Dealing with Customers Over The Phone
Learning to deal with customers over the phone is very essential for those business person whose day-to-day business activities involve a lot of telephone contacts and conversations. While talking with customers on the phone, be patient and respond well to the queries of your clients. Speak only when the other party finishes talking, to avoid confusion and misinterpretation of data or money related problems. Be calm, even if the person speaking with you over the phone speaks arrogantly or hurls abuses at you. If you reciprocate by hurling abuses at him, there will be no real difference between you and him. Make the person realize his folly by not compromising on your business ethics. Try to give maximum possible information over the phone and speak clearly. These are the keys to good customer service.
Dealing With Angry And Abusive Customers
Your customers might be angry with you if they are not satisfied with the service you have provided them, or if your product is not good enough. At this point of time, you should know how to deal with them. Take charge of the situation and explain what exactly went wrong, and assure them that such a thing will not happen again. Apologize, if it is really your fault. Knowing how to deal with abusive customers will help you protect and improve your image as a businessman.
