How to Deal with Anger Issues?
According to the psychologists, there are three major ways in which people deal with anger. One is the expressive way where people show off their aggression. Second is suppressive anger where the emotion is bottled up within and is not allowed to come out. It is very harmful for the mind and body of any person, and can lead to some illness. The ideal way to deal with anger is to calm down the anger. Calming down the anger means controlling your feelings as well as your reactions. Self-control does not mean that you suppress the anger but dissipate the anger with reasons. Here are some of the effective means, which if you can follow will help you to deal with anger issues better:
- Deep Breathing: Deep breathing is an excellent way of getting rid of anger. Keep the rhythm of the breathing very slow. You can feel the nerves easing off and the anger slowly goes out of your mind.
- Meditate: Learn meditation and practice it regularly. This will help to access your inner self and you will start understand the value of peace. When you know the importance of peace of mind, you will not let anger survive within you.
- Forgiveness: Develop the attitude of forgiveness which will help you in anger management. It can be done by accepting the fact that all of us commit mistakes.
- Smile: A simple yet effective way to defuse anger is smile. A smile can act as a soothing balm to cool down any tensed atmosphere. You can also laugh at yourself which will contribute towards stress management.
When you are in a relationship, difficult situations arise many times which lead to anger. If we do not check anger at the start it can bring lots of bitter feelings and damage the relationship. Therefore, you have to deal with anger very methodically. When you are angry do not speak and maintain silence. In an angry mood, if you speak up, it is bound to hurt the other person. In that case, the other person will retaliate negatively and worsen the situation further.
Sometimes, it happens that your partner criticizes you very badly. If you allow those words to affect you, it can drive you mad. The right way to deal with it is to be indifferent towards those words. Start thinking about something else that can make you feel happy. When your mind is not acknowledging them. then it will not have any effect on you. Thus, you will find the angry feelings are all gone all of a sudden. If your partner is venting out anger upon you, what you need to do is to stay calm. Do not react to it. After some time, your partner will start feeling guilty for his or her own behavior. Most importantly, always keep your focus on the positives of your relationship. It will help to get rid of any kind of negativity and maintain a healthy relationship.
Anger is an invisible enemy that lives within us. It gives us a feeling that the people around us are responsible for creating anger within us. When you know how to deal with anger, you can develop a willpower that will help to throw anger out of your system.
