How to Cure Anxiety Attacks

Anxiety attacks can be a very debilitating condition to contend with. By using this free strategy you can begin to combat them eventually curing your anxiety attacks.
You may be enjoying a moment of perfect quietude. You haven't got a care in the world. And...then... Something happens. A thought, person or situation triggers that familiar feeling in your body. Within a few moments you are in the midst of a panic attack (also known as an anxiety attack) and find yourself holding on for dear life.

The above situation is one that individuals who suffer from anxiety attacks suffer from all the time. When one has to deal with such a situation they find themselves in a state of constant fear - when will the next panic attack strike and how bad will the damage be. It can be terrifying.

The good news is that if you learn how to cure anxiety attacks, which can be done, you can get over them and put that part of your life behind you. In fact, studies suggest that over 85% of people who seek treatment for anxiety attacks eventually overcome them entirely. And many therapists and psychiatrists claim that they can cure a patient of their panic attacks in a single visit.

With that in mind, isn't it time you discovered how to effectively end your continuing relationship with panic attacks. The good news is that it is not as difficult as you might think.

Panic attacks come from the brain's flight or fight mechanism which is designed to put the body on high alert when their is imminent danger. Biologically this can be useful. For instance, if someone is trying to murder you in a dark alley, the heightened awareness and super-vigilance that you will get with the rush of these anxiety chemicals can help keep you alive. The problem comes into play with the fact that people who get panic attacks get them when they are not in any danger.

Imagine that there is some scenario or future event that you are dreading. When you begin to think about it your body begins to sense that you are in a life and death situation and floods your brain with the chemicals that ignite flight or fight. But the reality is that you are just thinking about an anxiety producing event or scenario. You are not really in mortal danger. What many people report is that they feel perfectly fine and that once an anxiety attack hits then they begin to feel as if they might have a heart attack and die because their body is reacting so strongly.

However, the good news is that an anxiety attack will not harm you. You will not have a heart attack during a panic episode. You will simply use up a lot of energy and, in the process, start to fear that you are losing your mind. But, that's okay. The important thing to realize is that you are going to be fine, you are not in any danger or going insane you are just having a panic attack.

The way to cure a panic attack syndrome is to retrain the brain to process those stimuli differently. And you can do this by re-framing the inner dialogue that you have with yourself. When you begin to feel the panic attack coming on, remind yourself that you are not in any danger. Tell yourself that you will be just fine. Use your self talk to do this.

You will find that once you begin to instruct your brain on the fact that you are not in any mortal danger your body will react quite differently. You will not experience the panic attacks because you will not trigger that reaction from your brain.

If this sounds a little too simplistic, I can assure you that it is not. I suffered from panic attacks for many years in my younger days before a therapist taught me this technique to eliminate them. I have been panic attack free for more than a decade and you can be too.

However, this technique is just one way to address anxiety attacks. A trained therapist can offer additional techniques and methods and if you continue to suffer from panic attacks it is advised that you make an appointment with one in your town as soon as possible.
