Everyone suffers from stress at some point in their lives. Stress can be brought on by emotions, trauma, environment and even health. It's not always easy to contribute stress to one thing which makes it difficult to control. It would be great if we could combat stress before it happened but unfortunately we can't and if we do not relieve stress it can take a toll on us mentally and physically.

There are many options that can help to relieve stress from changing the foods we eat to taking medication. Most times such extremes are hardly necessary and you can combat stress and have fun at the same time.

The world is full of time-consuming and stress-stopping activities that could be the perfect weapon in managing stress for the present and the future.

Take a Trip to the Beach

Going to the beach is a great way to relax and have fun. You'll never get bored at the beach. You can swim, surf, build sand castles and lie around under the sun. The beach is the perfect place to stomp out stress for the entire family.

Yoga

Yoga is probably the most effective physical way to relieve stress. In fact stress is the main reason most people turn to the exercise. There are several positions yoga offers the body just for helping stress. The best thing about yoga is you can do it anytime no matter your schedule. Some people prefer taking yoga classes with others and some prefer doing it in the privacy of their own home. Either way Yoga could be the best medicine for the job.

Dancing

Getting your body moving can ease stress. There is bound to be some sort of dancing that sparks your interest. Whether you spend time dancing at a club with friends or sign up for ballroom dance lessons, dancing can get you on the road to being stress free.

Martial Arts

Martial art is the perfect all-around stress reliever. It's not only a way to exercise your body but also your mind. Martial art usually works along with meditation and clearing your mind can help you limit stress.

Self Defense Classes

This is a great way for women to relieve stress especially. You can learn how to protect yourself while toning your muscles. Self defense classes can also help to give you a more positive outlook. Once you begin to take more control over your life by being able to protect yourself you'll build confidence. Being confident and being positive will take the place of negativity and negative thoughts are a big contributor to stress in a lot of people.

Makeover/Spa

Relaxing at the spa for a day can help fight stress for women. Go shopping or get a makeover at your favorite salon. Pampering yourself can take your mind off things and changing your appearance will make you feel like you're on to a new beginning.

Volunteer

If you've got a lot of extra time on your hands you can try volunteering. No matter where you live there are bound to be places that need volunteers. You can help out at community centers, hospitals, libraries, schools, charity organizations, etc. You'll be so busy helping other people and feeling rewarded for doing so that you're bound to forget what brought you there in the first place. Once stress is out of sight, it's out of mind.

There are tons of activities to choose from to ease stress but you have to take control and refuse to be a prisoner. Stress can slowly take over your life if you do not find effective ways to manage it.
