Life has become very stressful in modern times. People these days do not get time to relax, or take a break or enjoy the little pleasures that life has to offer. On top of that, relationships, which are supposed to be our back bone, do not come with a guarantee any longer. To beat the stresses of life, we start relying on food, alcohol, cigarettes, late nights, parties, etc, and end up doing all those things that are not good for our health. These stresses, combined with a wrong lifestyle, lead to accumulation of toxins in the body, causing many health problems such as headaches, skin problems, weight gain, depression, constipation, premature aging, stomach infections, etc.

Connect with Yourself
Have you ever noticed that whenever we are stressed or feeling low, it starts showing in our body? We might become constipated or we might start having acne on the skin. Do you know why this happens. Well, apparently, there is something called the "mind-body connection". In order to be healthy, we should first of all, feel good within ourselves. And in order to feel good, we should know what we want in life, what makes us happy, etc. In today's time, we rarely get time to talk to ourselves or to identify our true feelings. So the first step is to start writing down all your aspirations, dreams, feelings about your relationships or the way you want your life to be, in a diary. Maintain this diary, and write it from time to time in order to know yourself better. Knowing yourself well, and connecting with your inner being will surely make you a better person, and keep you happy and healthy too.

As is said, technology is both a boon and a bane. So the next thing that you should do is to discard all the technological devices that you use, such as, your computer, TV, mobile phone etc., and return to the basics. In other words, disconnect with world and connect with your inner self.

Detoxify your Body: Internally and Externally
If you want to cleanse your body and lose weight at the same time, it is suggested that you make certain dietary changes. If possible, become a vegetarian. Include lots of green vegetables and fruits in your diet. Include lots of fiber-rich foods in your diet, such as cabbage, radish, broccoli, brown rice, etc. Avoid caffeine, soft drinks, alcohol, cigarettes and high sugar foods. Take lots of herbal supplements such as green tea and ginger tea in your diet. Drink three liters of water per day. Start your day with lukewarm water, honey and a dash of lime, as this recipe is known to aid in digestion and thus, eliminates the wastes faster. Eating frequent meals, five times a day, instead of three large meals will help in better digestion, and later, quicker elimination of wastes from the body.

It is not only important to cleanse the body internally, but also from the outside. Taking shower everyday and after any rigorous physical activity which produces perspiration, is very essential to maintain hygiene. Exfoliating the skin, from time to time, is necessary to get rid of dry cells on the skin too. Dry brushing the skin and taking a steam bath, helps in opening of the skin pores. For maintaining oral hygiene, dental flossing and tongue scrapping, besides brushing twice a day, should be undertaken.

Physical Activities
Being involved in physical activities, such as exercises, dancing, swimming or even simple walking, helps in removal of wastes and toxins from the body. Doing yoga can be immensely beneficial not only for cleansing the body but also the mind. Breathing exercises help in maintaining proper flow of oxygen throughout the body, thus keeping the person energetic and refreshed at all time.
