Cleaning hardwood floors and maintaining wood flooring is simple and not a difficult task at all. You can clean your floor after a gap of two days and you can just use a mop or maybe a vacuum cleaner with a soft brush in order to clean the floor. Here are some important tips and ways which you can follow to clean wooden floors and also protect them from any kind of damages.
- The first thing that you have to do while learning how to clean wood floor is clean the entire floor and get rid of any kind of dust particles or grime. This you can do either with the help of a soft broom or probably or with a damp mop. Make sure that there are no dust particles left as they might scratch your wooden floor.
- Sometimes, in order to give the floor a shine and glossy look we use floor wax . But, wax attracts dust and when it starts getting dirty, the floor gets an ugly look. It's time that you remove this layer and put on a fresh coat. But removing this wax can be a tough job and if you are not careful, then you might even damage the floor.
- Removing mildew or other stains from the wood floor can also be a problem. What you can do then is clean the floors with vinegar. Just mix at least ½ cup of white vinegar to the mop water and then wipe the floor. All the stubborn stains can be removed easily.
- Some stains like blood stains or tea and coffee stains or maybe grease, can be hard to remove. In order to remove blood stains, you can sponge it with a mixture of cold water and ammonia. For grease you can just place a frozen peas pack on the mark and then scrap it off with a knife.
- Sometimes kids tend to use the wood floor as a drawing board and they have crayon marks all over it. You can simply remove this with the help of toothpaste.
- If your pet dog has used your precious wooden floor as a toilet and stained it, then you can remove that with a mixture of bleach and water (mix very little bleach ) and make sure that you do not let this solution seep below the finish as this might lead to discoloring.
- While floor cleaning, fine steel wool can be used to clean the wood off all its stains and spills. While deep cleaning wood floors, make sure that you do not allow any water to seep in as they might damage the wood or rot the wood.
