Remember that before you opt for any ways of cleaning LCD TV, you can just read out the user manual of your set. This is the best way to know about the right way to clean and the right products to be used for your LCD television.
Precautions to be Taken while Cleaning
Before you start to clean LCD TV, you must keep a few things in mind. Firstly, switch off the television. The LCD TV screen is very delicate and can be easily scratched. Hence, using a very soft and clean cloth is essential. Soft cotton is the best. Flannel is a popular choice. Do not opt for newspaper, paper towels, tissues, or other such products. Do not spray the product directly over the screen as it can leak into the TV frame. Also, do not apply pressure over the screen while cleaning it, this might lead to that section of screen having dead pixels. This can further lead to loss of image in that part or entire screen. Keep away the regularly used strong chemicals like alcohol, ammonia based cleaners, or window cleaning products. Remember that your LCD has to be treated differently.
What you can Use for Cleaning
You can safely use the following ingredients for cleaning LCD TV screens. Filtered Water, distilled water, soft liquid soap, isopropyl alcohol, petroleum benzine, vinegar diluted in distilled water, commercial glass cleaners especially formulated for LCD TV screen are all safe to be used. You must strictly avoid using tap water, ammonia, ethyl alcohol, ethyl acid, acetone, toluene, methyl chloride, commercial glass cleaners containing ammonia to clean LCD TV.
Right Cleaning Procedure
- For daily cleaning of LCD screen, use a soft cloth and gently wipe the dust from the screen and the frame. Use cotton swab to clean the dust in difficult to reach areas, such as the border and corners.
- For accumulated dust, take a soft cloth, dampen it using one of the above mentioned solutions and softly wipe the dust. Long horizontal and vertical strokes are enough. You can use 2-3 more strokes to clean it thoroughly.
- Wondering how to clean LCD TV screen fingerprints or other oily, dirty spots over it, which might be left after cleaning? Just dampen a cotton swab or a foam swab and just clean the dirty spot. Do not clean with pressure. You can apply normal pressure and rub it a few times to clean completely.
