How to Clean Baby Shoes

For cleaning the outside of the shoe, use a soapy solution or a mild detergent. You can also use leather cleaner for this purpose.
Unlike baby clothes, baby shoes cannot be washed everyday. However, since babies love to play with their shoes and most of the babies have a habit of chewing them, it becomes necessary for parents to make sure the shoes of their baby are neat and clean.

Cleaning baby shoes needs some special treatment as different shoes are made up of different materials, and different materials are cleaned differently. The most common shoes that the babies love to wear and parents adore as they stay on their baby’s feet are the soft-soled ones. Soft soled shoes are made of soft leather and suede, therefore, special care is needed to wash them. For cleaning the outside of the shoe, use a soapy solution or a mild detergent. You can also use leather cleaner for this purpose. Take a damp cloth and rub the surface of the shoe so that the stains are properly removed. Wash the sole of the shoe with runny water. Dry the shoes with a gentle towel and keep them in open air, not too much exposed to the sunlight.

Leather shoes need special care when it comes to cleaning them. Wash the shoes in a mild detergent solution. In order to avoid discoloring, make sure the detergent is properly dissolved in water before you put the shoes in it. When it comes to drying the baby charm shoes, you need to be extra careful as too much of sunlight or heat can result in shrinking of the leather shoes. Spread them on a towel and let them dry; this may take a couple of days.

Machine washing of shoes, though recommended by most of the shoe manufacturers, should be minimized to retain the original shine of the shoes. However, canvas shoes and those made with soft cloth can be machine washed once in a month.
