How to Buy Diamond Engagement Rings

Buying a diamond engagement ring does not come cheap. What factors should you consider when shopping for a diamond ring? Read more of this article to find out.
You obviously don't want to make a mistake while choosing an engagement ring, especially a diamond one!! The tradition of presenting a woman with a diamond engagement ring when proposing began in 1477 when Archduke Maximilian presented a diamond ring to Mary of Burgundy – and in most cases, the woman you plan to propose to will expect a ring to accompany that proposal!

A diamond ring is quite unaffordable to most people, which is why buying one for the love of your life shows true appreciation. Most people therefore use the 'two months salary rule'.i.e. the cost of the ring should be worth two months of your current salary.

Considering that you may have other bills to pay in these two months,it would be better to consider some form of financing to buy your ring. Most jewelers allow some form of credit financing to clients who can't afford to pay the full price of the ring.So it's up to you to discuss this option with your jeweler.

Once you've gotten price issues out of the way, have your mother, sister, or your girlfriends best friend take your girlfriend shopping, and make sure that they gaze at the engagement rings to get an idea of what she might like.

It is advisable to deal with a jeweler who might allow you to return the ring for another if she doesn't like it.
