How To Buy A Jacket Online

What should you look for in a jacket? Should you even buy your clothes online?
How do you buy a jacket if you can't even try it on? Solution? Go by the brand. Different brands have different sizing. To play safe, buy the size from the brand you know fits you well.

Some stores give you more sizing information than others. If you are unsure of whether an item fits you, make full use of the sizing information given online. Some stores make that a pop up screen so you would have to disable whatever popup blocker your browser or firewall might have in order to see the chart.

Take a tape measure and measure honestly the measurements listed on the sizing chart. If some measurements fit an M while some fit an L, go for the L. Size up when between sizes. You can always get it tailored smaller to fit you exactly, which brings me to the next point.

When you buy retail, you'd rarely find a perfect fit. Mass produced clothes are made to fit the measurements of their sizing models, which are probably built differently from you.

The trick is to buy the closest fit, and have it adjusted by a tailor. That way, you get clothes that fit you perfectly. A jacket is more forgiving. You can get away with a larger size, even without the help of a tailor.
