Materials
The basic supplies or materials required to build a garage cabinet are plywood, nails, screw driver, weather resistant paint and door knobs. If possible, try to use a sealant for filling the gaps. Gloves should be used while building a cabinet. Protective eye wear prevents dust particles from entering the eyes.

Procedure
First of all, before building a garage cabinet, the dimensions should be figured out. The length, width and depth of the cabinet should be determined. The depth of the cabinet should be slightly greater than that of the instruments kept in it. The width of the cabinet should be large enough to store any of the instruments that are generally found in garages. One should decide beforehand if there is a need to have shelves in the cabinet. The plywood used for building the cabinet should be cut properly as per the dimensions. The pieces of plywood should be cut in order to have a top, bottom, back and two sides of the cabinet. Nails or screws could be used to fix these pieces together. A piece of plywood which has the same dimensions as that of the back piece, is cut to make a door. The cabinet door can either be a single or a double-pieced one. The door should be fixed to the cabinet by means of the hardware purchased. Hinges and screws are needed for fixing the door. After attaching the door to the cabinet, a door knob should be fixed. The hardware necessary to install the latch is put in. Generally thin strips of wood are attached at the edges of the cabinet to make the handling easy and comfortable for the user. Then legs should be attached to the cabinet. To make the cabinet weatherproof, coat it with oil paint. One shouldn't ignore painting the cabinet, since plywood is susceptible to moisture.

The above mentioned procedure explains the steps for building a garage cabinet of the simplest form. One can also add accessories like drawers to the cabinet. One should take necessary care while handling tools used in building the cabinet. The tools used for cutting the plywood should be handled with care.

Hiring professional service to install cabinets is an easy option. However, building cabinets manually helps in customizing them and also gives a sense of satisfaction.
