Pole Sheds
A pole shed does not require the traditional base that is usually required for the buildings. One can prepare its base after building the actual pole shed. This makes the pole sheds easier to build. There are two popular roofing types when it comes to the pole sheds and that are the 'gambrel roof' (both sides of the shed containing additional flat section on each sides) and the 'gable roof' (roof with two flat sections set at angles, towards each other).
Pole Shed Plan
- A well drawn plan and its perfect execution is always important at any stage of life ans so is for a pole shed. Hence, before you start, you need a well drawn plan of where you want to build the pole shed, the size and the exact required dimensions of the pole shed.
- You need a checklist of the materials required for building the pole shed. This way it will be easy for you to have an exact estimate about all the required materials without forgetting some important ones.
- Selecting ideal location for the pole shed is as much important as planning for it.
- The most important thing is to check with local authorities if it is legal to build an outhouse and if not, then taking the permission becomes an important task. Not all, but in some areas the permission of the local authority is mandatory.
- Dig holes in the ground, approximately just below the frost level using a hand held post hole digger. It is very important for the holes to be larger than the actual size of the posts.
- Make a 1 to 1 ½ inch of gravel base in the holes and then set the posts, this you must do to facilitate the drainage.
- Filling in additional concrete is required to keep the post away from exposure to the moisture and freezing if you live in extremely cold weather.
- Provide support to the poles with the help of waste 2" x 4" timber objects, until the concrete dries off.
- Choose the roof truss design as per the size and the rise of your pole shed. Attach the roofing material that you want, by using the roofing nails, without forgetting to overlap the sections.
