A preliminary hole that is ½ inch both in depth as well as diameter should be drilled to form a recess. The recess is used to hide the lag bolt head. The 4 × 4 planks should also be drilled through its entire thickness and the inner or second piece should be bored at least 2 inch deep.

The next step is to sand the upright pieces followed by cutting the 2 × 6 pieces. The planking should then be attached to the three support pieces in a manner that one of the piece is aligned with the center and the remaining two should be near the outside edge. The screws need to be attached from the bottom. The bench should be made water proof by painting it with a primer followed by a finish coat.
