How to Be a Great Sales Manager - Bus Hire Guy Tells All

There are many ingredients needed to be a great sales manager. The main ingredient however is very basic - keep your eye on the ball. The bus hire guy will explain here.
Before I became involved in the bus hire industry I was involved in direct selling. It was there that I learned a very important lesson - the more intense the sales process, the more you need to keep your eye on the ball.

Unfortunately, day to day performance in the direct selling game is almost directly linked to the day to day attitude, enthusiam and focus of the management. In other words, if you take your eye off the ball for just a moment, you'll see a drop in sales.

In the bus hire industry on the other hand, if you take your eye off the ball the resulting drop in sales will be less immediate. Your service will suffer but the result is far more manageable. In direct selling, if you turn your back for a moment you could find your world has fallen apart - ouch!

On one hand that's a bummer. On the other hand that represents an opportunity for focused management who really are on the ball. As other managers in the industry take long holidays, feel they can slack off for a moment or simply fail to pay attention, the focused managers can swoop!

Perhaps that's why there is such a high level of burnout in the direct selling industry - no one takes holidays. In the bus hire industry you can take holidays if you have a reliable person who can maintain acceptable levels of service. In direct selling, taking a holiday without everything collapsing around you is far more difficult.

Being responsible in a direct selling company is like being in a Formula One car. Concentrate every second or your car could spin out of control - the next bend is just a second away. That makes it a very exhausting industry but a rewarding one for the best managers!
