How Often Should You Email Your Subscribers?
This article offers email marketing tips regarding how often you should send emails to your list.
Many people automatically assume that all they have to do to make money from email marketing is to build up a list and then send lots of promotional offers to this list whenever they have something to promote. However you need to treat your list well and this does not involve sending lots and lots of emails to your subscribers.
I'm subscribed to a lot of different marketers' lists and the ones I respect the most are certainly not the ones that bombard me with email messages on a daily basis. In fact if a marketer sends me too many emails, even if some of them provide some useful content, I will nearly always unsubscribe from their list.
So the first point I want to make is that you should try and avoid sending out too many email messages. You may assume that the more emails you send, the more money you will make, but this is usually not the case.
Most of the time you will find that a lot more people will open your emails when you send occasional emails. I personally send no more than one or two messages a week and have always found this to be the most profitable strategy.
The key is to build up a strong long-term relationship with your list by providing them with lots of free and useful content on a regular basis. Once you've done that, you will have much greater success when you start promoting a few products.
This relationship-building process should be ongoing which is why you should try and avoid getting into a rut where you may go a couple of months without communicating with your list. In this day and age many people are subscribed to several different lists and also receive hundreds of emails every day from various different people (including spammers) so if you start emailing them after a very long absence they may mistake you for a spammer. Even if they don't, your open rates are likely to be low because a lot of people will have forgotten who you are.
So to sum up, if you want to become a successful email marketer you should avoid sending out too many emails to your list but you should also make sure that you do nevertheless stay in contact regularly so your subscribers get into the habit of expecting emails from you.
