How I Got a Top 10 Website Ranking in 48 Hours - Part 1

Some people believe that it's nearly impossible to get a top 10 website ranking in Google. I'll show you a way to dramatically increase your odds of having your website ranked in the top 10.

Focus on long tail keywords phrases

Long tail keyword phrases are usually three to four words that make up a phrase within your target market. Most beginning marketers make the mistake of only targeting one word or two word keyword phrases, which are extremely competitive and almost impossible to achieve a high-ranking. I suggest using Wordtracker's free keyword suggestion tool to generate long tail keyword phrases based off of popular one-word keyword phrases in your market. Wordtracker will generate up to 200 suggestions for keyword phrases. Be sure to filter out the keyword phrase suggestions that don't really pertain to what you're trying to do.

Research traffic and competition for your newly generated keyword phrases

Along with generating keyword phrases for you, Wordtracker will show you the approximate amount of hits that keyword will receive on any given day. The number you're looking for is 80 and above. That means that you want to have a keyword phrase that has at least 80 searches per day. You can go ahead and filter out the ones that have less than 80 searches per day because they just don't get enough traffic to justify the effort that you are going to put in to get a top 10 website ranking.

It's very important to check and see how much competition your keyword phrase has on the Google search results page. For example, if you were to type and the keyword phrase "silver keychains" into Google, in quotes (phrases in quotes are referred to as phrase match), there will be a number of total results in the top right hand section of the results page. Try to look for number less than 40,000 results. Anything less than 40,000 results means that you probably don't have too much competition for that particular keyword phrase.
