How Exercise Can Help With Bedroom Life

It is widely believed, especially by men who have tried it and found it to be true, that exercise can help improve the performance of men with erectile dysfunction.
In the past quarter-century, primarily in the United States, we have become more sedentary. Until the computer revolution, men worked as farmers, construction workers, and industrial workers. But more and more men began sitting at desks with the arrival of the desktop computer, leading to an entire generation of guys who are glued to a screen all day. Our waistlines are bulging and our arteries are becoming clogged through lousy diet and inactivity. This inactivity, coupled with the fact that people live longer than ever, has led to an epidemic of erectile dysfunction, or ED.

Many men, though, are finding that regular physical activity is helping with their ability to maintain better erections. While such ED drugs as Viagra, which can be ordered from online pharmacies or local pharmacies, have made it possible for men with ED to achieve erections and save their relationships, regular exercise is also making a difference in the lives of many men who do and don’t buy Viagra.

According to Harvard Medical School, regular exercise can be beneficial to a man’s sexual health. In fact, a Harvard study has shown that as little as 30 minutes of walking per day can make a difference in a man’s ability to achieve and keep an erection. And men all over the country are singing the praises of regular exercise as a method of keeping themselves trim and keeping their cholesterol down. In addition, a guy who looks better is going to feel better about himself, thereby contributing to his masculinity. It’s not like these things have been a secret, but until recently exercise wasn’t widely discussed as something that could contribute to a man’s sex life.

The primary reason that a man loses his ability to get and keep a satisfactory erection is that blood flow to the penis is interrupted. This can happen for a number of reasons. Smoking, alcohol abuse, drug abuse and diabetes are a few reasons. But lack of exercise can also make this problem worse, and by exercising regularly a man is making a positive contribution to the flow of blood throughout the arteries, thereby possibly contributing to the improvement of his erection.

In addition to normal exercises, such as walking, running or lifting weights, specialty exercises such as Kegel exercises may help a man improve the function of his equipment. Originally intended for women after childbirth to help restore urinary leakage control, some men report that Kegel exercises, also known as PC exercises, help with their erections. Kegel exercises involve sitting on the toilet and stopping and starting the flow of urine, strengthening the muscles that contribute to an erection. Some men also perform penile exercises after they already have an erection, practicing the raising and lowering of the penis.

Now, this isn’t to say that exercise is a cure-all for ED. Many men will still need to take Viagra or another erectile dysfunction medication. But given the nature of the world we live in, we probably aren’t going to become a more active society anytime soon. So exercise is a good idea for overall health, if not to improve our sexual health.
