Stretchy Play Dough
Ingredients
- 1 cup flour
- ½ cup salt
- 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
- 1 tablespoon of tartar for elasticity
- 1 cup water
- Carrot juice, spinach, beet as coloring agents
- Scented oils (optional)
In a sauce pan or a stock pot, mix the flour, salt and oil by adding water, stir it on a low flame, until the dough becomes easy to mold. Put this dough on wax paper and let it cool for at least 5 minutes. Knead the dough with your hands till it becomes consistent enough to mold. Add some vegetable juices like carrot, spinach and beet to give it different colors while you are kneading it. You can store this play dough in the fridge for as long as you want and if it starts hardening, knead it with a little bit of water or oil.
Rubbery Play Dough
Ingredients
- 1 cup baking soda
- 1 cup water
- Food coloring
- ½ cup cornstarch
Add all the ingredients in a sauce pan and stir till there are no lumps, boil this mixture over medium flame. When this dough thickens, remove it on a plate and make colored balls out of it by adding food coloring.
Alum Play Dough
Ingredients
- 1 cup flour
- ½ cup salt
- 1 tablespoon of alum
- 2 tablespoons of oil
- Liquid food coloring
- 1 cup water
Mix flour, salt and water with the alum, to a sauce pan and stir it till it is mixed thoroughly. Mix the oil and color in a separate vessel with water and pour this mixture to the ingredients in the sauce pan. You can pour it on the dough even when you are kneading it. Once the dough is consistent use it, or store it in the fridge.
Oatmeal Play Dough
Ingredients
- 1 cup of oatmeal
- 1 cup flour
- 1 cup water
- ½ cup salt
To a bowl, add some water, oatmeal and flour. Knead it with some oil and salt. Do not heat this dough as this clay has to be sticky and has a different texture.
Peanut Butter Play Dough
Ingredients
- 1 cup peanut butter
- 1 cup oatmeal
- 1 cup powdered milk
- ½ cup honey
This is another way of how to make play dough and it doesn't require cooking. You just mix all the ingredients in a bowl and knead it till it's consistent enough to mold. Make round balls from the dough and let your kids enjoy playing with them.
Kool Aid Play Dough
Ingredients
- 2 cups of flour
- 2 tablespoons of corn oil
- ½ cup salt
- 1 tablespoon alum
- 1 Kool Aid bottle of any flavor
- 2 cups of warm water
