A record number of people these days are wanting the answer to a now very common question;  how do I lower my cholesterol without having to take powerful prescription medications?

For starters you need to visit your doctor or clinic and have your cholesterol levels checked. Some people will ultimately have to use prescription medications in the beginning to reach a safe level.  HDL is the "good"  and LDL is the "bad"  ask your doctor what your levels should be.

How do I remember which is which?  LDL = Lower and bad.  HDL = Higher and good.  The numbers they should be seem to change from time to time and like eating eggs,  is still being debated.

Of the 4 - How do I Lower my Cholesterol tips here 3 of them are going to help you in many ways besides lowering your bad cholesterol levels.
  • Tip One:  The foods we eat! This one has probably helped me the most when I wanted to know how to reduce my cholesterol levels.  Stay away from the processed, fast, foods.  Fresh fruits and veggies and try to make canned vegetables a last resort.  Fresh is best, frozen is next.
  • Tip Two:  Exercise. You have to get up and move for at least an hour a day if possible.  I use the powerful benefits of walking.  An early morning walk especially before traffic gets going is best.  Better yet,  plant a garden then you get exercise and fresh produce.
  • Tip Three: Vitamins and supplements. There are a lot of good natural vitamins like niacin and plant extracts that have been proven to lower the bad LDL and raise the good HDL.
  • Tip Four:  As a last resort some people will have to get their bad LDL down to a safe level by using prescription medications.Often times they can reduce and even eliminate these medications by sticking with the diet, exercise, and supplements.
When you ask yourself how do I lower my cholesterol remember even if you are taking a prescription  medication and are experiencing some or many of the negative side effects there are ways to reduce and even eliminate the drugs.
