How Do I Fix A Slow PC Startup?
We all hate waiting for the computer to start up. Here are a few things you can do to speed up this process.
Are you having the need of solving the slow start up speed of computers? You have seen your friend’s old computer running much faster than your new Pentium IV computer. If your computer has Pentium IV processor and a well maintained windows XP, then it will run very fast even with RAM as low as 128MB and a small CPU. If you feel that your computer is running slower than usual, then there is a need to fix the slow computer with the help of software, before going into the hardware.
There may be some software problems behind the slow computer. There are lots of things going on simultaneously with bits 1 and O that a normal user is not aware of.
Some of the things that may slow the computer down:
1. Low space in the hard disc or hard drive or hard drive getting old.
2. Not enough memory.
3. Virus in the computer.
4. Many junk files present in the computer.
Probably the best way to find out the problem in your computer is to remove the easiest problem first and see if the computer becomes faster. You should do some of these tasks first and then see what happens to the computer.
1. Delete the files that you do not want, the temporary files, and empty the recycle bin in the system tools under accessories.
2. Scan the disk.
3. Make partitions of the hard disc to remove any already fragmented regions.
4. Run the antivirus software program after an upgrade.
5. Get a registry utility software from the net.
6. Install and run the registry utility program and the program will fix the errors in the files.
The whole process would take about 20 minutes to be done. Restart the computer after doing everything. If even this does not solve the problem, then try to find out other possible problems in the computer.
Have a look at the antivirus program of your computer. If it is old or incompatible with your computer, then this could be causing the computer to slow down. You may upgrade the antivirus for this. Run it often in your computer to make sure that there is no malware in the computer.
Still, if the problem continues, then the hard disc may be at fault. Is there any type of sound produced by the computer? One symptom of an old hard disc is the clicking sound made either frequently or infrequently. There also may be the appearance of blue screen of death which causes the same problem. You may scan the hard disc by a scanner to check the problem.
There may be the need of adding additional RAM memory. Have a look at the system tools and system information to know the current RAM memory status of the computer. A computer in which Windows XP is installed should run at a minimum 256 MB of RAM.
Thus, there are quite a many things that you could do to correct the slow startup of the computer. It’s just that a little time is involved in doing it.
