Houston Loft Apartments

Houston lofts are a relatively new phenomena in Houston. However, they have gained in popularity and have become extremely trendy as of late.
Residents looking to lease apartment space in Houston have recently shown an insatiable desire for leasing lofts. Now most loft properties in Houston are located in the downtown area.

And until recently most loft properties were either converted from a hotel like Post Rice Lofts or had been around for awhile. If one desired new loft construction they may have been deterred from leasing. However, in the last five years many builders and developers have began to supply Houston with the loft space so many renters have desired.

The two newest loft creations of loft space include Sawyer Lofts in the memorial heights area and Ventura Lofts which is actually not located in the downtown area. As one may notice most loft properties are located in a downtown or major urban area.

Lofts should be located near a ballpark or near major entertainment destinations including clubs or popular bars. Lofts are not for families and that is why you generally will not find them outside of a major city. Lofts consist of wide open spaces and tall ceilings.

Some older lofts in Houston like Hogg Palace Lofts are generally just one large living space. This space hosts the bedroom quarters, dining areas, and living areas. This is termed a "hard" loft. Most of the newer Lofts in Houston are "soft" lofts.

Generally there is a large partition or make shift wall that separates the bedroom area from the rest of the space. It is a bit easier to become accustomed to this than one large room. Sawyer Lofts actually is a "soft" loft with entry ways on either side of the partition. The bedroom area does not feel like a completely different room, however it feels separated from the rest of the unit. Lofts usually cost a premium compared to normal apartment communities. So expect to pay a little more.
