Houston Dog Friendly Apartments
Dog friendly apartments are easy to find. However, based upon your dog's weight and breed the difficulty level may rise.
Almost all apartments in Houston are dog friendly. In fact, it is more difficult to locate an apartment that will not accept a dog. On a side note, cats are accepted at almost every apartment in Houston. When it comes down to dealing with a dog, you have to keep to simple things in mind. How many pounds does the dog weigh, and what type of breed is the dog.
Every apartment has a policy regarding the weight of a dog. If you have a dog that weighs over 100 pounds. You will have a very difficult time finding apartment housing. Most of the Camden properties have dog limits up to 99 lbs. Typically, apartments do not want large dogs on hardwood floors. Your pet may scratch up the flooring; however concrete floors are a different matter. Concrete is scratch proof and it is very easy to clean up a mess they may make. Apartments consider large dogs to be of 50 pounds or more. If your dog is a few pounds over don’t worry too much. The leasing agents won’t pull out a scale and weigh your dog.
The other factor is the breed. If your dog is an aggressive breed, such as a pet bull, you will be automatically denied. A private home or apartment will be a better choice for you. The property will have a list of dogs that are aggressive; don’t assume your dog falls on the aggressive list. If your dog is a mixed breed you will need to confirm with the manager if it is acceptable. The property can be held accountable, if your dog attacks another tenant. And everyone wants to avoid a lawsuit, if at all possible today. An apartment locator would be a great help to anyone with a dog who is having problems locating one on his/her own.
