Hot Air Balloons

The hot air balloon is the oldest form of flight created by man. The air inside the balloon is heated by burners that cause the balloon to rise. Although intermittent heating of the air allows the balloon to stay up in the sky, wind currents are a big factor in the altitude and direction in which the balloon travels. Blimps and dirigibles are two types of hot air balloons, but dirigibles are no longer utilized for human travel since the explosion of the 'Hindenburg' in 1937. Today, hot air balloon rides are a popular tourist attraction.
