The workforce increased because the general health of the people in the area increased and therefore disease was not as prevalent. Many of the farm workers also were forced to change occupations because advancements in agriculture forced them to look elsewhere for work. Other inventions also helped, such as the steam engine. It was made more efficiently and allowed for. There are many more reasons for the rise of the industrial revolution, but to list all the possible reasons would waste your time because this is not the spotlight of this informative article. The only thing that must be recognized is that this revolution allowed for the appearance of the revolution we want to discuss, the age of information.

For the past 27 years we have been living in a thrilling age, the age of information. Today information can be distributed quickly and with ease. Thanks to the internet, cell phones, pagers, television, and new advancements in radio, one can find and distribute nearly any information he or she desires. With all these advancements, information technology has become important to the growth of many industries and new companies. One good example is in the finance industry. Spending there is much higher than that of the healthcare industry. They use information technology extensively, and usually spend up to ten percent of their gross revenue on it. If we analyze that and measure it up to the healthcare industry, we will find that there is quite a difference.
