Horsing Around

A story about a girl who was born to ride, the only problem is that her parents will never let her get a horse of her own or will they? Leave comments!
Ready, set, GO!" I grabbed my saddle as fast as I could. Saddle blanket over. I was having a race with my friend, Billie Bristol, to see who could tack up the fastest. Dame it, Hockey moved, now I have to pick up the saddle blanket and start over. Yes, her girth broke now she has to run and get her spare girth, talk about bad luck. Dame it, she's got my girth, cheater. Now I have to go to the take room and get a spare girth.

I ran to the tack room as fast as I could yelling at everyone to get out of my way. I sounded worse than a stampede of elephants.
I came back and her saddle was covered in mud, saddle has to be clean. That should by me some time to get my bridle over. She hosed down her leather saddle and gave it a quick scrub with the towel.

"Finished!" I shouted, pleased with my self. I patted Hockey's neck and took a step back to admire the beautiful gelding.
"Fluke!" Billie yelled, she doesn't take defeat very well.
She took her bridle, put it on Hanna's face, pushed the bit into her mouth and did up all the buckles.
I laughed aloud. Knowing that Billie was my best friend and knowing that she had a funny little horse like Hanna made me smile.

Hanna, Billie's mare, is the cutest thing since slice bread. She is the perfect horse. Her gold, palomino, glossy coat is honey when the sun touches it. Her long, white blaze down her nose is the perfect cream. She's 15 hands high with a friendly personality. Most importantly, she was born to jump. She is the best jumper I've ever seen. She and Billie were made for each. Born to ride together forever.

As soon as Billie was finished tacking up Hanna, I put my left foot into the stirrup and swung over Hockey and sunk into the saddle.
Finely, the place I love to be most in the world. It's the one place were I don't have to think about anything else but me and my horse. Well, Hockey wasn't really my horse; he was just the horse I ride at riding club. I wish he was my horse. I love him so much.

Sometimes I wish I could come see him every day but I'm only allowed to come and see him every Saturday. Riding once a week just isn't enough for me. I've asked my parents about a million times if I could get a horse and it was the same answer every time I asked.
"Too expensive". "Too much responsibility." "Our backyard is too small and it cost too much to bord it somewhere."

My parents were so annoying, but I didn't have to think about that right now all I had to think about was Hockey.
Hockey was always the cute type of horse, but I didn't think of him as cute, I thought of him as gorgeous. One of those horses who you can't take your eyes off. That you can stare at for hours just watching them graze in the grass or rolling in the mud. He was a Lipizzaner

When your mounted on a horse your one with it. It's like you're with your best friend all the time and you feel safe and secure. Sometimes I imagine what it will be like if I was in the Olympics for show jumping. What it would be like if I won a gold medal. I'd be the youngest rider to ever do so, that's for sure. I wonder how proud my parents would be and my little 8-year-old sister, Laurie.

Just to think getting all dressed up and dressing up Hockey, walking past the grand stand listing to the crowd whisper "she's way to young" or "she's not going to make it" then prove them wrong. I would clear all the jumps then be handed the gold medal and holding it up high over my head and Hockey will have the ribbon placed around his neck and then...

"TAMMIE ACE, GET OFF THAT HORSE NOW!" My riding instructor Chloe Ball was standing next to Hockey with her hands on her heaps and her face redder then a cherry.
"Sorry Chloe" I shook my legs free of the stirrups and dismounted immediately.
"How many times do I have to tell you? You are not aloud to mount a horse unless you're in the arena."

I looked at my feet, which were placed firmly on the ground, and frowned. I knew better than to mount in the stable yard. I just got so excited and couldn't wait to get going.
Chloe groaned. "I'll see you two in the arena and make sure you WALK over there." She then walked off but then suddenly stopped dead in her tracks.

"Oh and you two it's not a race." She then disappeared into the arena. I sighed and then patted Hockey's neck and then gave a look at Billie who was stroking Hanna's gold coat, trying to hide a laugh. I then flung the reins over Hockey's head and made my way to the arena.
