Hope within Misery - 4

Misery always comes before hope. It's like a sequence. In this case it's misery first then hope and misery again. But then comes love.......Weird huh?
~ LUNCH~

The first thing that hit me like a wave during lunch was that everybody seemed to know everybody.

There were no loners, no Emo people, not even one shy nerd.
Everybody in the cafeteria was wearing fashionable clothing and most of the guys had sports uniforms on.

I would think I was in some TV soap opera where only beautiful people were allowed to have screen time. There were blinding smiles all over the room. It was so picture perfect that I had to rub my eyes to make sure there were real.

Once I got out of line, I tried to find an empty table, and found on one of the corners. Then just as I was about to head on I found a small brunette wearing fishnet stockings and a black dress. On her small face she had heavy eyeliner on, and she had REALLY pale skin. At first I thought she was some kind of ghost, but then I figured her out. She was unmistakably Gothic.

Finally, someone who is normal!

She stood out like a sore thumb in the large room. But instead of taking a seat at a table, she went outside into the grass and I followed her.

Seated in the grass, there were scattered groups of outsiders, people who didn't belong in the perfect world inside the cafeteria. It was almost bliss of heaven. Staying in the cafeteria would have made me puke.

It was probably one of those stupid unspoken rules that made them sit here while the cool ones sit inside.

The Gothic girl turned around and gave me a smirk.

"Hey new girl, you should stop standing there and move your butt to sit down. Don't worry about those fake people inside. You wouldn't be qualified to sit with them anyway." And with that she turned away.

Being outside, it was much more refreshing. I leaned back on one of the trees and let the wind sweep my face as I closed my eyes.

I remembered when I was ten, me and my dad would go to the park. We would, each pick a swing and race to see who will swing faster. I always lost by the way.

But the exhilarating wind on me that was brought on by the swing and the gleeful smile on my father's face seem to make everything stop. Nothing mattered anymore except my dad and the sweet 10-year-old little girl who loved him.

"Hey Bruce Wayne! Wake up, Joker's here."

That annoying sound woke me up from my reverie. I slowly opened my eyes to find my face inches away from that of the annoying delinquent I met earlier,Bryan.

I scowled at him and pushed him away.
"Look, Poker face, you are invading my personal space, so back-off" I retorted.

"And now I thought that you would kiss me and everything will be happily ever after, you know, like that Snow White story."

"HA! Like you could be a prince charming? And as you have noticed, I don't really want to talk to a douche like you, or anyone else for that matter." It was hard to maintain my irritation.

"Look baby, I'm not quick to be offended. I have confidence in my unbelievably charming appeal. And I don't really like the way you shut people off with that adorable scowl on your lips. But you're still fun to argue with!" he put an arrogant smirk in his face.

I shook my head and tried to find the strength in me not to say something back. This school is weird enough without him.

Ugh!!!

Why did he have to go to this school?!
Why did he have to find some sick and twisted interest in me?!
Why did I meet him?!
