Homeschooling - What are its Benefits?
Why your children should study at home rather than going to school? Read this article and find out more.
You can ask me why your children should study at home rather than going to school when you read the topic, homeschooling benefits. Am I right? Let me tell you why. Just answer my question on whether you feel bad to wake your kid at early dawn or wait anxiously till he/she returns from the school. Why do this when you can teach your kid at home? You need not worry about the bad influences your kid might get. You can decide the way in which your child has to grow. No one is going to come by your way and stop you from taking a decision that might be good for your child. You can tailor-made curriculum based on the interest of your child. Isn’t this a great homeschooling benefit?
Every child is not the same. One might solve Math problems very easily while other might have a good command over the English language. In a class, when there are so many students studying, it is not possible to give individual attention. In homeschooling, you can pay individual attention. Say for example, your son requires more time to solve Math problems and requires only very little time to do his grammar, is it possible for him to devote more time to do math at school? He has to finish it off within the time given by his instructor. However, in homeschooling, he can take more time to solve math and less time to read English. No pressure is put on the child and therefore the child can learn in a more relaxed manner.
As the child is studying at home, almost everyone in the family is involved in the activities of the child. Both the parents are involved in the learning of the child. Field trips, experiments, playing games, and doing a project work becomes a family activity. Parents can spend quality time with their kids and the closeness or the affection towards family members is increased by way of homeschooling. No pressure from the peers and therefore the child can read at its own pace but effectively.
You might ask me whether your child will lack social interaction as he/she doesn’t go to school and interact with other children. What happens when a child is sent to school? He may pick up bad habits that other children have or sometimes elder ones may bully your child. When older ones bully your child, he feels that all adults are like this and may develop a fear when seeing elders. This doesn’t happen in homeschooling and I see this as one of the greatest homeschooling benefits.
Another great benefit of homeschooling is that your child learns concepts and studies things. Therefore, he/she is in a better position to understand things. In a school, he is forced to read things from the exam point of view and therefore chances of missing out on facts are higher. Competition is also less, which is a great benefit of homeschooling. It is not necessary for the child to prove the abilities he has with regards to his peers and this definitely would increase the confidence level of the child. If a child finds a particular concept or subject tough, parents can make them understand it by way of fun activities.
As a parent you might have a belief or an ideology, which can be incorporated to your child very easily in homeschooling. Last but not the least, you as a parent can shed out your worries related to discipline or ethics. As the child is going to be with you, you can teach the child discipline or ethics, which is correct and there is no chance for the kid to learn bad habits. Similarly, nobody is there to discriminate your child on basis of age or any other characteristic. When I was in my school, I was repudiated in certain co-curricular activities just because of the fact that I am short. I don’t want the same to happen to my child too. You would accept to the above statement if you were repudiated in your school days based on your characteristics.
Homeschooling is definitely an effective way to teach your child. You can kindle the interest your child has and can inculcate interest in education.
