Ingredients
  • Milk, 1 cup
  • Granulated sugar, ½ cup
  • Bittersweet/semi-sweet chocolate,1⅓ cup
  • Heavy cream, 2 cups
  • Vanilla extract,1 tsp
Recipe
Heat milk in a stove or microwave until it just begins to bubble. Meanwhile, process chocolate in a food processor or blender until the chocolate is finely chopped. Mix chocolate and sugar. Combine hot milk and chocolate mixture and blend until chocolate is melted and the mixture is smooth. Cool the mixture. Once you have done that, stir in heavy cream and vanilla.   • Unflavored gelatin, 1½ teaspoons
  • Water, 1 tablespoon
  • Low-fat milk, 3 cups
  • Egg yolks, 3
  • Canned fat-free sweetened condensed milk, 1 ounce
  • Unsweetened cocoa powder, ¼ cup
  • Unsweetened chocolate, 2 ounces, chopped

Sprinkle gelatin over water in a small bowl; let it stand, stirring once or twice, while you make the base for the ice cream. Pour 1½ cups of milk into a large saucepan. Add cocoa and chocolate to the milk. Heat the milk mixture over medium heat until steaming. Whisk egg yolks and condensed milk in a medium bowl. Gradually pour in the hot milk, whisking until blended. Return the mixture to the pan and cook over medium heat, stirring with a wooden spoon for 3 to 5 minutes, until the back of the spoon is lightly coated. Do not bring to a boil or the custard will curdle. Strain the custard into a clean large bowl. Add the softened gelatin and whisk until melted. Whisk in the remaining 1½ cups of milk. Cover and refrigerate until chilled or at least for about 2 hours. Whisk the ice cream mixture and pour into the canister of an ice cream maker. Freeze according to manufacturer's directions. If necessary, place the ice cream in the freezer to firm up before serving.

Homemade Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream

  • Sweetened condensed milk, 1 can

Mix in ice cream maker for about 15-20 minutes or according to manufacturer's instructions. Meanwhile, prepare cookie dough. Mix chocolate chips with cookie dough balls and add to ice cream mixture. Mix for 5 more minutes in ice cream maker.
