Homemade Cement Mixer
Homemade cement mixers can be easily constructed from scrap. When you need only a small amount of concrete, it doesn't make sense that you go and rent a cement mixer for that. A homemade cement mixer can save you a lot of time and money that way. Read this article, to know, how to make a cement mixer?

Building a Homemade Cement Mixer
To make a cement mixer, first you need to gather all the requisite tools and raw materials for the same. The time spent in this endeavor will only be a few hours at most, if you can get everything together in time.
Tools Required to Make a Cement Mixer
It is difficult to build things with bare hands! Our stone age ancestors realized that and started building stone tools. Fortunately, we are better off now and have better tools than them! In fact, a huge range of them is accessible. Here I have listed down the tools and scrap materials you will require to build your very own homemade cement mixer:
- Screwdriver
- Pipe Wrench
- Drilling Machine with ¼" bit and 3/32" bit
- Auto Body Putty
- Redundant Washing machine drum
- Hacksaw
- Galvanized pieces of Iron Pipe
- Used Gears
- Crankshaft
Here is the stepwise procedure:
STEP 1: Creating the blending mechanism for cement mixer
For blending the cement mixture together, we require paddles. Fetch some spare angle iron scrap material and some metal brackets or supports. Work on the scrap metal, trim it in the shape of blades and install it in the drum. Use the brackets to link the blades. Drill holes in the drum to fix up the blades in position using ¼" bolts.
STEP 2: Sealing the cement mixer drum with auto body putty
Next, you must spread that good old auto body putty inside the drum. Make sure you cover all the interior surface and the holes at the bottom of the washing machine drum. Use it generously and spread it evenly. You do not want your cement to leak from the tub. That is why you need to do this thoroughly.
STEP 3: Creating frame for homemade cement mixer
Next, we build the metal framework on which the cement mixer will be mounted. Take the galvanized pieces of iron pipe and thread them together. You can then mount the rollers by using bolts on the back, such that they go through the body of the drum. The roller mechanism consists of a central rotating axle which is attached to the drum body along with a specific type of gears. The gear mechanism should be such that it should enable you to turn the drum manually by rolling a crankshaft.
STEP 4: Mixing drum rolling mechanism
Mount the drum over the central shaft, so that it slides easily and turns. Once the gear mechanism is in place, attach a crankshaft to it, for easy rolling. The crankshaft could be a redundant bicycle handle.
Once all of this is in place, you have your very own homemade cement mixer ready for use! Not only will it help you grind your own homemade cement, but you can show off your homemade cement mixer proudly. Building your own homemade cement mixer is all about concreting your creative ideas and bringing them to reality!
